Cristiano Ronaldo gave Jose Mourinho's men an early lead but Diego Costa restored parity soon after, with Miranda eventually helping Diego Simeone's men to a 2-1 victory in extra-time, with los Blancos striking the woodwork three times.
"We have to say well done to Atleti, they deserve to win the trophy," Ramos told TVE.
"After the goal maybe we relaxed and sat back. We had four or five clear chances; but if you don't take advantage of them you get punished."
The defender then went on to admit that his side have not lived up to expectations this term, having ended up empty-handed.
"This year we've ended up empty-handed. We've lost La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. All we can say to the fans is that this is the reality and that there is next season to look forward to."
